From CGtalk's daily sketch group; subject: "Roses are red, Guns are gunmetal gray". Ironically enough, when I read this subject I thought it was so bland and uninspiring, and set out to sketch something in an attempt to prove so. I was totally wrong, since I ended up something I rather liked!
Sorry if you see sexist undertones in this.  Painter, a bit of Photoshop for minor tweakings, final touch-ups in Painter again. ca. 1 1/2 - 2 hours I might go for some final revision at some point in order to make a proper painting out of it. The 22' minute sketch (there was a time limit) can be seen here. Doesn't that peach-pink look UGLY in that one? |

They are supposed to be roses, yes, but I didn't want to give them too much definition. Even if I polish this up I'll keep them that way. Somehow real, flowery-like roses strike me as being somewhat kitch, in art; I don't much mind the one that acts as the figures head, because.. well, it's not the typical rose depiction by any manner of means.
