(World's End: Subjective Border)

I would have hoped this would be the end of a world,
but worlds do not end with a single leap into the infinite;
it takes time for another one to succeed them.

------------------

January 2005, acrylic and oil on canvas; approximately 105x72cm.

Painted for an offshoot of the Visual Language class last year at Akto; but I never got round to take photographs of it so as to upload it until now. Come to it, I never quite felt comfortable with how it turned out, either.

As with several of my later paintings (yes, I have to finish and upload -those-, too), it originated from a very small pen sketch I must have done sometime in 2002 (and one I seem to have lost, too). That one was inspired by a small picture I'd seen then, whose painter did also call it -- I think -- World's End.

Love the half-organic, half-architectural structure and the wonderful deep sky.

Beautiful. Mysterious, sad, fascinating and really rather superb. :)

It's subtle and enigmatic. Elegant design and exquisite tones. Lovely atmosphere in the piece.
